Welcome to Medical Minute with Paul Birmingham, brought to you by Oro Valley Hospital.
I知 here with Dr. Rebecca Milholland, an neurologist, fellowship trained in headache and epilepsy. Doctor, are migraines common?
Migraine is extremely common in a largely under diagnosed. Half of all women have migraine and a lower percentage of men also have migraines. These days the international headache society guidelines state that, anything that last more than four hours along with some mild throbbing, even mild nausea or decreased appetite can be classified as a migraine.
Doctor, will I need an MRI or CAT scan for my headaches?
If you池e a lifelong headache sufferer probably not, however if you have never had headaches before and suddenly have frequent headache your physician will usually order a head scan for you, or if you have an acute or rapid change in the type of headache then your physician will order a scan.
Outstanding doctor, thank you very much for that information. Find a physician by visiting OroValleyHospital.com today.
