Tucson Vice Mayor Regina Romero has her eye on the ball. She wants to discuss a major problem in Tucson...abandoned shopping carts. Really? Jobs? Roads? Business climate? Nope. Demand is there...not. From the agenda:
Abandoned shopping carts left at bus stops, along the sides of roads, and in drainage ways are a visual nuisance in Tucson. The Code Enforcement Division of Housing and Community Development reports 5 referrals for shopping carts out of 20,545 calls for service in FY12, although it refers callers to the Transportation Department for cart removal. Transportation reports 63 calls for assistance with shopping carts since 2008 and approximately 17,400 calls for other service each year.
