The new Oro Valley Archery Range at Naranja Park at 660 W. Naranja Drive is now open.
"We're proud to add archery to the list of quality, recreational amenities available in the Town of Oro Valley," stated Mayor Satish Hiremath. "This has truly been a grassroots effort, spearheaded by local residents and archery groups who are passionate about the sport."
Funding came by way of a $15,000 grant from the Arizona Game and Fish Department, a $16,000 donation from the Pusch Ridge Archers and various in]kind corporate sponsorships.
Town of Oro Valley staff helped stretch donated funds even farther by self]performing on]site labor.
The 18-target, fixed-range course is open, but there are still many unmet needs, including parking lot enhancements, benches, picnic tables, shade structures and a permanent restroom facility. The following sponsorship opportunities are currently available:
As funding becomes available, the Town will look to add two National Field Archery Association
(NFAA)-certified 14-target walk-around courses on southwest and southeast corners of Naranja Park.
Range use is FREE through January 1, 2013.
